Don't rebuild your homeschool because of this...
|
Hey Reader, You've probably had one of those homeschool days where something works so beautifully that you think: THIS. We should do this every day. And you've probably had the opposite kind too. The lesson falls apart and suddenly you're reconsidering the curriculum, the schedule, your teaching, the moon phase, and possibly every decision you've made since 2017. π But this week we've been talking about clues, not verdicts. That's important. One moment of engagement can teach you something. One pull-away can teach you something. Neither one has to carry the weight of proving your entire homeschool is working or not working. Patterns only become useful when you give them enough room to become patterns. Maybe you've noticed your child talks more when you learn together. Maybe questions appear during hands-on experiences. Maybe your child stays with something longer when there's a real problem to solve. Maybe the quietest kind of engagement happens while they're drawing, building, reading, moving, or explaining. Maybe you've noticed something that doesn't seem to fit yet. You don't have to figure it all out today. Instead, choose one clue from this week that you want to keep watching. Not seven. One. You might write: "I want to notice when she starts asking her own questions." or "I want to watch what happens when he can work without being interrupted." or "I keep seeing this topic come back up, and I want to notice whether that continues." That becomes useful evidence. Next week, we're going to bring the same curiosity to the moments when children pull away. Instead of jumping straight from resistance to "This isn't working," we'll look underneath the resistance and ask a different, deeper question. If you want help making sense of the engagement pattern you're seeing, that's exactly the kind of real-life homeschool evidence we can work through together inside the Homeschool Success Circle.β No generic formula. Your child. Your homeschool. Your evidence. Christy's Corner π What's the one engagement clue you want to keep watching? Hit reply and finish the sentence, "I'm curious about..." And if you have questions about the Homeschool Success CIrcle, reply with those too.
