Hey Reader, Somewhere on your computer, there may be a folder full of homeschool resources you were absolutely going to use… … right after you renamed the file, organized it into the correct folder, found the printer ink, and remembered why you downloaded it in the first place. Or maybe you printed it… it’s sitting in a stack on a shelf, quietly judging you. Homeschool resources can be dramatic like that. Don’t worry Reader, an unused resource is not evidence that you’re lazy, disorganized, or failing. Sometimes a resource goes unused because it doesn’t fit your child’s current interests. Or, it requires much more preparation than you expected. Sometimes the resource itself is simple, but printing, cutting, gathering supplies, explaining the directions, and convincing everyone to participate is not. Sometimes a resource goes unused because it solves a problem your family doesn’t actually have. The description sounded ah-maze-ing, and the reviews were glowing. We're talking 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟! It included 147 pages. Surely 147 pages must fix something. 🤦♀️ Raise your hand if you’ve downloaded something just because it was cute and saved it for “later.” 🙋♀️ Later is a very crowded place in homeschooling. The goal isn’t to use more resources. It’s to use the right resource at the right time, for the right reason. That might mean using one page from a 50-page packet. It might mean saving something for a younger sibling. It might mean deciding the activity is better as inspiration than as an assignment. It might also mean deleting the file and moving on with your life.
