You Don't Need to Fix Everything
|
Hey Reader, When something in your homeschool feels off, it’s easy to mentally fast-forward six months. How are we going to fix this? How will we ever catch up? What if this keeps getting worse? But you don’t need a six-month rescue plan today. You need one useful next step. That might be: Reviewing yesterday’s math instead of pushing into the next lesson. Reading aloud together because connection is what everyone needs today. Practicing one foundational skill for ten minutes. Dropping an assignment that isn’t helping. Asking your child, “What part of this feels hardest?” Or simply deciding to watch and gather a little more information before changing anything. Small steps can feel almost too simple when your brain is shouting, We’re behind! But after everything we’ve talked about this week, I want you to remember this: The opposite of “behind” isn’t “caught up.” It’s knowing where your child is, deciding what matters next, and trusting yourself enough to move from there. That’s the work. Not racing toward someone else’s finish line. Not cramming more into the day. Not solving every possible future problem before lunch. 😂 Just paying attention and taking the next useful step. And if you don’t know what that step is yet, that’s okay too. That’s exactly the kind of thing you can bring to Plan & Prep. You don’t need an agenda. Bring your coffee. Bring your planner. Or bring the question that has been circling your brain all week and say: “Here’s where we’re stuck.” We’ll start there🐝. 🐝 Christy’s CornerAfter this week’s emails, has your definition of “behind” changed at all? What feels less urgent than it did on Monday? And what is the one next step you want to take? Journal about it privately, or hit reply and tell me your next step. If you’re not sure what it should be, tell me where you’re stuck and I’ll help you find it. And if you’d rather talk it through, come join me at Plan & Prep TODAY or Sunday. Sometimes another brain beside yours is the next step.
